Eleven year old Cornel Grey became the 45th champion
of the Gleaners Childrens Own Spelling Bee competition. Representing the Portmore Missionary Preparatory School he, along
with thirteen other participants, battled until he proved victorious by spelling the word G-H-O-U-L which means legendary
evil being that robs graves and feeds on corpses.
In June, Cornel will go on to represent his country in the Scripps
Howard National Spelling Bee competition following the footsteps of other past students Alicia Forrest(2002) and Trudy-Anne
McLeary(2003).
